It'd been quite some time since Faustus Goethe had stepped through the gateway of this palace. Bright eyes stood out against a tanned face, a light layer of stubble on his upper lip and chin as his soft leather boots made soft clicks on the marble floords. He often missed this. Missed the school, along with the innosence and lack of responsibility that had come with being enrolled here. A calused hand reached up and ran through his messy, rich brown hair. He felt a little guilty for that thought, having made it sound as if once a student enrolls into the school known as Raziel Palace, they gain innosence and are responsible for nothing. No, he'd simply meant that while he'd been a student here, he'd had far less to worry about.
Over the past year, Faust had seen plenty of things. Some good, some bad; the latter being the majority. War was not a pretty thing, however, although he wouldn't say he enjoyed it, if asked, Faust would have to admit that he loved fighting for his freedom and his country.
His long legs carried him off toward the library as his thoughts were off somewhere else. Only when he was home in the City of Edlin, their capital, did he feel safe enough to let his guard down like this. He stopped before the school library's entrance and reached up a hand, feeling the soft wood of the doorframe. He really did miss being a student here.
With a sight he dropped his hand and stepped into the library. His eyes widened slightly as he noted that it was much fuller than was usual. Then however he realized what time of the year it was. T'was time for the Mid-Yearly Exams. A slight smirk curved his lips as he made his way through the large shelves of books, the smell of old paper and ink filling his nosdrils. He'd spent much time in this place with his best friend Silas, the prince of Edlin himself. How Faust had managed to aquire a friend of such high standing, and not to mention a friend who was so good to him, Faust did not know. Back when they were students, many of their peers would spread rumors about the fact that Faust, a mere peasant, was simply trying to climb the ladder of society by kissing the butt of this counties prince.
Faust took the last available seat by the window, sinking into the large armchair. No, that hadn't been it at all. Faust had been unaware of Silas' status when they'd first met. If he remembered correctly, Faust had even started a fight with the boy. A wistful smile passed over his lips and he leaned his head back against the arm chair. Oh how he missed those days long gone...

hypnotic, hypnotic, some kind of m a g i c `` you're pushing, you're pulling, me down to you -------------------------------------------------------- Being the first wizard himself, Haylan spent a lot of time in the palace, especially during the time it was now... Mid year exams and finals. Many wizards freaked out during this time, and thus Haylan was stuck here trying to teach them as much as he could and trying to keep them from freaking out and somehow dropping their studies, like a few of them he'd seen had. Even so, he loved Raziel Palace... It'd been the man's home since he was eleven. The only thing Haylan missed was his sister.. Eleven years they' grown up together, twins. It was his only regret...
With a sigh, Haylan stretched his body out in angst. This was the time of year that his life got a lot harder. Though being first wizard had it's upsides, it also had it's downside, too. Even so, he wouldn't trade it for the world. His dark brown eyes glanced around the room in earnest, trying to hunt down anyone that he could speak to and try and get his mind of helping everyone with the exams. He had to grade them, too. Great. Just great. With another heavy sigh he stretched, groaning aloud without realization. A few of the wizards in training gave him bizarre looks, and he just smiled in dark surrender. This was going to be a FUN week.
"Great, just great." He murmured for the third time in about ten seconds, before letting out ANOTHER heavy sigh as a wizard in training walked up to him, asking him a question. "No, additive magic can be used for offensive too, though most of the time it's used defensively. For additive you could say... Add poisonous toxins to the person's body or something of the sort. It's all depending on your abilities and how you're able to use it yourself.. When you graduate you'll figure it out," Haylan explained patiently, as the wizard in training gave him a blank stare, "it just depends on your abilities. I'm a war wizard, per say, as you know." He said quietly, "as I said, it depends on your abilities and we'll try to test your limits to see what you can and can't do. Some people only use additive for healing or prophecy, and others use it for many different things." Haylan finished, and the student gave him a quick nod and a brief thank-you before departing. Truth be told, Haylan wasn't even sure of what h was saying, but no need for the student to know that. Because of the war, Haylan had been getting even less and less sleep, leading his responses and answers for the students even more off-topic and confused.
After he finished the explanation, he noticed a lone war wizard sitting in a chair, he laughed half heartedly nad grinned. "Having fun watching the students get worried about the midyear exams?" Haylan said quietly to Faust, staring elsewhere. This was going to be awkward.

Jillian always used the palace's library to read some books about magic. She never went to the school, but she came a lot to read. They never stopped her. Although the kingdom was full of books, the library here had the best. She wish she could come to the school, but money was an issue. She didn't get everything she wanted here like she could at home. But she was fine with that. It gave her responsibility. Something she didn't have much as a child.
She gazed down at the marble floor as she walked through the halls to the library. Her hair fell around her shoulders. She sighed as she came to the large doors to the library. She silently opened one. She quietly walked in. She looked up. A frustrated look took over her face. The room was crowded to the full. She forgot the mid-year exams were coming up. She brushed away the hair from her face. There were no seats open. She bit her lower lip. This wasn't going to stop her from getting a book. She stepped around multiple people. A foot came out of no where and she tripped. She heard a few giggles. She stood up right immediatly. Anger filled her face but she didn't let it out. She continued along to a bookcase.
She looked over the book titles. She's already read a lot of them. She picked up one book she hadn't read yet. It was rather old and large. It was titled simply The Light Magic. She found a bare wall and rested her back against it and opened her book. For a library, it was pretty loud in here. She didn't like it very much. All the noise kept her from getting the words into her head. She clenched her teeth. She shut her book with a thud. She stood confidently. Her dress fell to cover her shoes. She pulled up the top of her dress. She carried her book at her side. Another foot popped out. This time she fell upon a man. This time, laughs escaped lips and the library filled with laughter. Jillian was so embarassed. She stood up straight. "I'm sorry sir." She said softly.

As he lounged in the chair, every muscle slowly relaxing into the chair's soft leather, Faust listened to the murmurs and the sound of quils on paper, pages being turned. This only helped him slip deeper and deeper into the past. Silas, himself, and their other friends would be here in the library during mid-year exams, just like these students. Faust had never really had much trouble understanding the things he read in books, the only subject he'd had trouble with having been the old tongie. Wether in writing or even speaking it, Faust had never quite gotten the hang of it. He glanced to the side, at the shelf right beside him and his eyes landed on a book written in just the tongue he'd been thinking about.
The war wizard reached over and snatched the old volume from the shelf. Maybe the reason this chair hadn't been taken was because it no longer had a table acompanying it. This didn't matter to Faustus, he simply opened the book on his lap, the smell of old paper and ink bringing a smile to his lips.
His sharp gaze slipped over the symbols on the page he'd opened the book to, and he rubbed the back of his neck. No, time certainly hadn't made him wiser in this regard. But he supposed that the only way he could truly learn this language was to continue studying it. The wizard was rubbing the light stubble on his neck when he suddenly heard a male voice, apparently directed at him. His gaze flicked up, and the first thing that caught his eye was the man's pale hair. Together with that familiar voice, recognition hit him almost instantly. For a few moments he considered not answering. But he knew better...
"I was just thinking of when I was as panicked as them..." He lifted his shoulders in a light shrug, a polite smile on his lips. Not long after he'd spoken, Faust was startled to find a young woman in his lap. That certainly had been the quickest he'd ever had a woman throw herself at him. A light chuckle left his lips at the thought and he helped the girl stand with a hand on her elbow. "Do not worry miss" He gave her a reasurring smile while at the same time looking her over.

The Elven Professor sat with his back to a wall, as he debated the ethical dilemma of using magic against unarmed humans, with a pair of his older students. For every point they made, he threw three counter points back at them. His mind slipped away from their conversation, as he heard snickers coming from near by, and then saw a young lady tripped by a pair of students. It bothered him so much to see actions taken in that way. Had those been his students, he would have punished them heavily, but they were not, so he would be much more spiteful.
Drawing himself back to the debate, Galeon posed a new question. "Would either of you deem it reasonable to use magic as a punishment to those who do not expect to receive punishment?" The student on his left began to speak, but was quickly cut off. "For instance, would it be right for a person to add a layer of ink to another person's notes, because they tormented another person." With that he closed his eyes and muttered something under his breath. It was not exactly a professional act, but many of the things he did weren't. Besides, it could be reversed by a number of the wizards teaching at the school, and just maybe it would teach them a lesson.
Quickly, he looked back at his students, giving them a few seconds to reply to his question, before moving on. "Actually, we'll continue this debate tomorrow in lecture, and remember to review the texts that I assigned before your examinations." He nodded away from the table, as permission that they could leave.
"Yes sir." The boys quickly moved away, like rabbits running from the hound. It always amazed Galeon how even after months under his tutelage, young people still seemed to be afraid of him.
Looking back towards the young woman who had been tripped, he noticed she was now on the lap of a man he knew to be a War Wizard, and the First Wizard was staring at them both. This new First Wizard was young and raw. His predecessor was far more polished and refined, and even more, he was a friend: a real friend. Only time would tell if Galeon could consider Haylan just that.

Jillian was embarrassed. He looked over her. She felt like a whore. Falling in a man's lap so fast, in her most showing dress. Her cheeks turned even redder. She didn't know what to say or do. She bit her lower lip. The laughter stopped. She looked around. A princess didn't normally have to be in these odd occasions. If the people knew who she was, they wouldn't have tripped her. Or maybe they would since they would know who her father was. She decided to introduce herself, but with a slightly altered last name. "My name is Jillian Harper. I'm sorry if I hurt you in anyway. Could I perhaps get you something?" She asked in her most sweet tone she could manage. She notice people stare. She was used to staring though. Laughing, no. Jillian was always taught to be polite though. A soft smile now played on her lips, hiding any fear or embarassment. Which she indeed had. But she had to hide it to show that she was quite alright with being embarassed and she was a strong woman. Which she was, of course. You had to be strong when you run away at 16, and stay away for four years, and keep away from the searching guards. She hoped that this man, or anyone in here, wouldn't recognize her. She has been recognized before. Just never caught. And she planned to keep it that way.
